Even in Captivity, Yusuf (AS) Spoke of Freedom — Through Faith

πŸ•‹ English Translation (Verse 38–40)

Verse 38:
"I follow the way of my forefathers — Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is the grace of Allah upon us and upon mankind, but most people are not grateful."

Verse 39:
"O my fellow prisoners! Are many different lords better, or Allah — the One, the All-Powerful?"

Verse 40:
"You worship nothing besides Him except names you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command belongs to Allah alone. He has ordered that you worship none but Him. That is the true religion, but most people do not know."

Prophet Yusuf (AS), while in prison, called his two fellow inmates towards Tawheed (oneness of Allah) before interpreting their dreams.
He explained that his faith followed the path of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, rejecting all idols.
He questioned their logic — “Are many gods better or one Almighty God?” — showing how false beliefs are merely names without reality.
He declared that real authority and guidance come only from Allah, and true religion means worshipping Him alone.

In the dark prison, Prophet Yusuf (AS) met two men who asked him to interpret their dreams. Before explaining, Yusuf (AS) saw a chance to share the truth of Allah’s oneness.
He gently told them that he followed the faith of his noble ancestors and believed in one true God — not idols made by people.
He reminded them that all power and judgment belong to Allah alone, the Most Merciful.
This moment in prison became a beautiful example of da’wah (calling to faith) — teaching truth even in hardship.
