Surah Yusuf (13–18) — Translation 13. Jacob said, “It truly grieves me that you should take him away, and I fear that a wolf may eat him while you are careless of him.” 14. They said, “If a wolf were to eat him while we are a strong group, then surely we would be the losers.” 15. So when they took him away and agreed to put him at the bottom of a well, We inspired him: “You will surely inform them (one day) about this affair while they do not realize.” 16. And at night they came to their father weeping. 17. They said, “O our father! We went racing one another, and left Yusuf by our belongings, and the wolf ate him! But you will not believe us even though we speak the truth.” 18. And they brought his shirt with false blood. He said, “No! But your souls have made this matter seem fair to you. So patience is best.
