A Charity That Can Multiply 700 Times – Quran Message
Surah Al-Baqarah 261–264 English Translation
Verse 261
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed that grows seven ears; in every ear are a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies the reward for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and All-Knowing.
Verse 262
Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow their charity with reminders of generosity or hurt will have their reward with their Lord. They will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
Verse 263
Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity followed by hurt. And Allah is Free of need and Most Forbearing.
Verse 264
O believers! Do not invalidate your charity with reminders of generosity or hurt, like those who spend their wealth to be seen by people and do not truly believe in Allah and the Last Day. Their example is like a smooth rock covered with dust; when heavy rain falls, it leaves it bare. They gain nothing from what they earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
Introduction
These verses teach one of the most powerful lessons about charity in Islam. Allah explains that charity given sincerely can multiply many times, but if a person hurts others or shows off after giving, the reward can be destroyed. Islam emphasizes dignity, sincerity, and kindness when helping others.
Explanation (Simple & Deep)
In these verses Allah explains three important principles:
1. Charity Multiplies Immensely
Allah compares charity to a seed that grows into hundreds of grains. This shows that even a small act of charity can bring huge rewards.
2. Do Not Hurt After Giving
If someone gives charity and later reminds the poor person of their favor or humiliates them, the reward decreases or disappears.
3. Kind Words Are Sometimes Better Than Charity
Islam teaches respect and dignity. If charity causes pain to someone, it is better to speak kindly and forgive.
4. Showing Off Destroys Good Deeds
Charity should only be for Allah, not to impress people. Otherwise it becomes like dust washed away from a rock.
Summary
These verses remind us that:
Charity must be sincere.
Never humiliate someone after helping them.
Kindness and respect are very important in Islam.
Showing off in charity removes its reward.
The real value of charity is purity of intention and kindness of heart.
