A young man did not even have a complete shroud to cover his father’s body. Yet when Allah asked his martyred father, “Ask Me whatever you wish,” he made such a request that it shook the heavens.

After the Battle of Uhud, when the dust of war had settled, young Jabir ibn Abdullah sat beside the body of his father, crying uncontrollably. His father, Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram, had been martyred. Jabir carried the burden of heavy debts, while nine young sisters waited hungry at home.

“My Lord, send me back to the world once more so I may sacrifice my life again for Your Prophet ﷺ.”

When Jabir heard this, his pain became lighter, because he realized that his father was not dead — he was alive with his Lord.
