Muhammad bin Haroon Balkhi was known as an extremely wealthy man. He possessed riches, comfort, and status, but his love for worldly pleasures slowly led him away from the path of righteousness.

One night during the blessed month of Ramadan, he returned home completely intoxicated with alcohol. His mother was standing near the oven, preparing bread with her own hands.

In his drunken state, he demanded food harshly.
