Adam & Eve: The Most Heart-Touching Beginning of Humanity

Surah Taha verses 115 to 122 describe one of the most emotional and powerful stories in the Qur’an — the story of Prophet Adam (A.S.), his trial in Paradise, deception by Satan, the first sin, sincere repentance, and Allah’s mercy. These verses teach humanity about weakness, forgiveness, and the door of repentance that never closes.

🔹 Short Summary

Allah took a promise from Adam, but he forgot. Satan deceived him by promising immortality. Adam disobeyed Allah, realized his mistake, repented sincerely, and Allah accepted his repentance and guided him. This shows that mistakes are human, but repentance brings Allah’s mercy.

🔹 Shan-e-Nuzool (Background of Revelation)

These verses were revealed in Makkah to:

Teach Quraysh the origin of humanity

Show that even a Prophet can make a mistake, but Allah’s mercy is greater

Prove that Satan is the open enemy of mankind

Emphasize Tawbah (repentance) and divine forgiveness
There is no specific single incident, but the verses were revealed as a lesson for all mankind.

🔹

Allah created Adam (A.S.) and placed him in Paradise with honor. He was allowed everything except one tree. Satan, the eternal enemy, whispered lies and promised immortality and an everlasting kingdom. Adam and Hawwa (A.S.) ate from the forbidden tree, and immediately realized their mistake. Ashamed and regretful, they cried to Allah for forgiveness. Allah, the Most Merciful, accepted their repentance, chose Adam again, and guided him. It is a timeless lesson that no matter how big the mistake, sincere repentance is always accepted.

🔹 English Translation (Surah Taha 20:115–122)

115. And We had already taken a covenant from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found in him no firm resolve.
116. And when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” they prostrated, except Iblis; he refused.
117. So We said, “O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so that you would suffer.”
118. Indeed, it is guaranteed for you that you will neither hunger therein nor be unclothed.
119. And indeed, you will not be thirsty therein nor be exposed to the sun's heat.
120. Then Satan whispered to him; he said, “O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and a kingdom that will never decay?”
121. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and went astray.
122. Then his Lord chose him, accepted his repentance, and guided him.
