The Day of Judgment Is Closer Than You Think

Surah Al-Haaqqah (1–12)

🌿 English Translation (1–12)

1. The Inevitable Reality.
2. What is the Inevitable Reality?
3. And what will make you know what the Inevitable Reality is?
4. Thamud and ‘Aad denied the Striking Calamity.
5. So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering blast.
6. And as for ‘Aad, they were destroyed by a furious, bitter wind,
7. which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; you would see them fallen like hollow trunks of palm trees.
8. Do you see any of them remaining?
9. Pharaoh, those before him, and the overturned cities committed sin.
10. They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a severe seizure.
11. When the water overflowed, We carried you in the sailing ship,
12. so that We might make it a reminder for you and that a conscious ear would understand it.

📖 Explanation (Tafsir Overview)

Verses 1–3: Allah emphasizes the certainty and عظمت of the Day of Judgment. The repetition creates fear and seriousness.

Verses 4–8: Examples of past nations like ‘Aad and Thamud who denied truth and were destroyed. Their power could not save them.

Verses 9–10: Pharaoh and other sinful nations disobeyed Allah’s messengers and faced severe punishment.

Verses 11–12: Reference to the flood of Prophet Nuh (AS). The Ark was a sign and reminder for future generations.

These verses warn humanity: denial of truth leads to destruction, while reflection leads to salvation.
