Verse 24

Then a voice called to her from below her, “Do not grieve. Your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.”

Verse 25

“And shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.”

Verse 26

“So eat and drink and be comforted. And if you see any person, say: ‘Indeed I have vowed a fast to the Most Merciful, so I will not speak to any human today.’”

Verse 27

Then she brought the child to her people carrying him. They said, “O Mary! You have certainly done an astonishing thing.”

Explanation (From Tafsir of Ibn Kathir)

According to Ibn Kathir:

When Maryam (Mary) became pregnant with Prophet Isa (Jesus), she withdrew from people to a distant place out of modesty and fear of accusations.

When the time of childbirth came, the pain forced her to rest near a palm tree.

In her extreme distress and fear of people's accusations, she wished she had died before this event.

Allah comforted her and provided miracles:

A stream of water appeared for her.

Fresh dates fell from the palm tree when she shook it.

Allah instructed her to eat, drink, and regain strength.

She was told not to speak to people but to keep a fast of silence.

When she returned to her people carrying the baby, they were shocked and accused her because they did not yet know the miracle of Isa’s birth.

These verses show Allah’s mercy toward Maryam and His protection of His righteous servants during the most difficult trials.

Summary

These verses describe the most emotional moment in Maryam’s life. She faced pain, loneliness, and fear of society’s accusations. Yet Allah supported her with miracles and comfort. The story teaches that when a believer faces hardship with patience, Allah provides help in unexpected ways.
