The Accusation That Broke Their Hearts — Surah Yusuf’s Most Emotional Moment
Translation
They said, “If he has stolen, then a brother of his had also stolen before.”
But Yusuf kept it hidden in his heart and did not reveal it to them. He thought, “You are in a worse position, and Allah knows best what you claim.”
They said, “O Aziz! He has a very old father. Please take one of us in his place. We see you as one of the kind-doers.”
Yusuf said, “I seek refuge in Allah from taking anyone except the one with whom we found our property. Otherwise, we would be unjust.”
When they lost all hope from him, they went aside to consult among themselves. The eldest said, “Do you not know that your father took a strong promise from you? And you failed before regarding Yusuf. I will not leave this land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me—He is the best of Judges.”
“Return to your father and say: O Father! Your son has stolen. We only testify what we know, and we could not guard against the unseen.”
