Pharaoh Killed Thousands… But Couldn’t Stop ONE Baby
Surah Al-Qasas (Verses 1–7)
Introduction
Surah Al-Qasas is a Makkan Surah that narrates the early life of Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) and exposes the cruelty of Pharaoh.
The opening verses were revealed to comfort the oppressed Muslims of Makkah, showing them that Allah always supports the weak and destroys tyrants—no matter how powerful they seem.
Explanation of Verses (1–7)
Verses 1–2
The disconnected letters Ta-Seen-Meem (طٰسٓمٓ) highlight the miraculous nature of the Qur’an.
These verses confirm that the Qur’an is a clear and true Book from Allah.
Verse 3
Allah announces that He will narrate the true story of Musa and Pharaoh, as a lesson for those who believe.
Verse 4
Pharaoh became arrogant in the land.
He divided people into classes.
He oppressed Bani Israel, killing their sons and sparing their women.
He was among the greatest corrupters.
Verse 5
Allah declares His divine plan:
To favor the oppressed
To make them leaders
And to make them heirs of the land
Verse 6
Allah promises to:
Establish them firmly on earth
Show Pharaoh, Haman, and their armies the very thing they feared
Verse 7
Allah inspired the mother of Musa:
Breastfeed him
When in danger, place him in the river
Do not fear or grieve
Allah will return him to her and make him a Messenger
This inspiration was divine guidance (not prophethood).
Summary
Surah Al-Qasas (1–7) teaches that:
Tyranny never lasts
Allah supports the oppressed
Power belongs only to Allah
His plan works silently but perfectly
Pharaoh tried to stop Musa’s birth, but Allah raised Musa inside Pharaoh’s own palace.
History of Bani Israel (Brief)
Bani Israel were the descendants of Prophet Yaqub (Jacob, peace be upon him).
They migrated to Egypt and later became enslaved.
Pharaoh feared the birth of a child who would end his rule.
He ordered the killing of newborn boys.
Allah protected Musa and prepared him to become the leader who would free Bani Israel.
