A deeply heart-touching true story Rejected by a Muslim /Honored by a Stranger
The Story
In Herat, a pious widow from the family of the Prophet ﷺ was living in extreme hardship with her seven young daughters. Poverty forced them to migrate, and after a long journey, they reached Samarkand.
Exhausted and helpless, they sat under a tree. Someone advised them:
"There are two generous men in this city—a Muslim governor and a Magian (fire-worshipper). Seek help from them."
They first went to the Muslim governor and said:
"We belong to the family of the Prophet ﷺ. Please help us."
The governor replied harshly:
"What proof do you have?"
The mother said:
"I have no proof…"
He dismissed them and shut the door.
Broken-hearted, they went to the Magian. As soon as he heard their story, his face changed with compassion. He immediately told his wife:
"Arrange the best accommodation and food for them. Treat them with honor."
That same night, the governor saw a dream…
He saw the Prophet ﷺ pointing towards a palace of gold and saying:
"This is the palace of a true believer."
The governor said:
"I am also a Muslim. Am I not a believer?"
The Prophet ﷺ replied:
"What proof do you have that you are a believer?"
The governor trembled… he realized his mistake.
Then the Prophet ﷺ said:
"My daughter came to you for help, and you asked her for proof?"
He woke up in fear and regret.
🏃♂️ The Truth Revealed
He rushed to find the women and learned they were taken in by the Magian. He ran to his house and demanded:
"Hand them over!"
The Magian replied calmly:
"They are my guests."
The governor argued:
"They are Muslims, and you are not!"
The Magian said:
"I made a deal without seeing… but because of this blessed family, Allah guided my entire household. We are now Muslims."
Then he added:
"You make deals only after seeing…"
He continued:
"When you were being scolded in your dream, I was there too…"
"The Prophet ﷺ said to me:
'You honored my daughters and helped them. I pray that Allah guides you and your family… and that palace is now yours.'"
The governor broke down in tears… and silently walked away…
