📜 Shan-e-Nuzool (Background of Revelation)

The verses about Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) were revealed in Makkah as part of Surah Maryam.
The purpose was to:

Show Allah’s power to grant children even when hope seems impossible.

Remind Quraysh that prophethood and miracles are from Allah alone.

Give hope to believers that sincere prayers are always heard, even if circumstances are against them.

Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) was a pious prophet and caretaker of Maryam (A.S.) in Bayt al-Maqdis. He saw miraculous provisions with her and prayed to Allah for a child despite being old and his wife being barren. Allah blessed him with Yahya (A.S.).

📖 Introduction

Hazrat Zakariya (A.S.) was a prophet of Bani Israel, known for his humility, devotion, and constant remembrance of Allah. He longed for a righteous heir who would carry on the mission of prophethood and guide the people. These verses from Surah Maryam show his deep faith, gentle prayer, and Allah’s miraculous response.

📝 Story Summary

Zakariya (A.S.) prays in secret to his Lord, expressing his old age and weakness.

He fears that after his death, leadership may fall into unworthy hands.

His wife is barren, yet he asks Allah for an heir — not for worldly power, but to continue the spiritual mission.

Allah gives the glad tidings of a son, Yahya (A.S.), a name never given before.

Zakariya (A.S.) is amazed but assured by Allah that nothing is impossible for Him.

Lesson: Allah answers sincere prayers, even when situations seem hopeless.
