Surah Maryam 28–34 Translation

Verse 28

“O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.”

Verse 29

So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to one who is a child in the cradle?”

Verse 30

He said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.”

Verse 31

“And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and has enjoined upon me prayer and charity as long as I live.”

Verse 32

“And He has made me dutiful to my mother and has not made me arrogant or miserable.”

Verse 33

“And peace is upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I will be raised alive.”

Verse 34

That is Jesus, the son of Mary — the word of truth about which people are in dispute.

Explanation

These verses describe one of the greatest miracles in the Quran.

When Maryam returned to her people carrying the baby Jesus, they accused her because they knew her as a very pious woman. They reminded her of her noble family and questioned how such a thing could happen.

Maryam did not argue. Instead, she pointed to the baby. People were shocked and said it was impossible to talk to an infant in the cradle.

Then, by the power of Allah, the baby Isa (Jesus) spoke. He declared three important truths:

He is the servant of Allah, not divine.

Allah made him a prophet.

He was commanded to pray, give charity, and honor his mother.

This miracle proved the innocence and purity of Maryam and showed Allah’s power.

Summary

Surah Maryam verses 28–34 show that Allah defended Maryam when people accused her. The newborn Prophet Isa spoke miraculously to confirm his prophethood and his mother’s purity. These verses emphasize humility, devotion to Allah, respect for parents, and the truth about Isa (Jesus).

Full Story of the Birth of Jesus (Short Islamic Story)

According to the Quran, Allah chose Mary as one of the most pure women.

An angel informed her that she would give birth to a son named Jesus, even though no man had touched her. This was a miracle created by Allah.

When the time of birth came, Maryam went to a remote place. She felt extreme pain and loneliness. Allah comforted her and provided water and fresh dates for her strength.

After the birth, Maryam returned to her people carrying the baby. They were shocked and accused her.

Instead of speaking, Maryam pointed to the baby. Then the newborn Isa spoke in the cradle and declared that he was a servant and prophet of Allah.

This miracle cleared Maryam of all accusations and became one of the greatest signs of Allah.
