Verify Before You React! ⚠️
Surah Al-Hujurat (6–8)
🌿 English Translation (6–8)
**6.** O you who believe! If a rebellious person (fāsiq) comes to you with news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance and then become regretful for what you have done.
**7.** And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in many matters, you would surely fall into hardship. But Allah has made faith beloved to you and beautified it in your hearts, and He has made disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to you. Those are the rightly guided.
**8.** It is a فضل (grace) and blessing from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
📖 Explanation (Simple Tafsir)
These verses teach powerful lessons about:
### 1️⃣ Verifying News
Islam commands believers to **check information before reacting**. Acting on rumors can destroy relationships and cause injustice.
### 2️⃣ Respecting Divine Guidance
The Prophet ﷺ guided by revelation — not emotions or public pressure. Human opinions can lead to harm, but Allah’s guidance is perfect.
3️⃣ Love of Faith
True guidance is when:
* Imaan feels beautiful in the heart
* Sin feels heavy and disliked
This spiritual transformation is a gift from Allah.
# 🕊 Shan-e-Nuzool (From Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir:
* The verse was revealed concerning **Al-Walid ibn ‘Uqbah**.
* He was sent by the Prophet ﷺ to collect charity (zakat) from **Banu Al-Mustaliq**.
* Due to fear or misunderstanding, he returned claiming they refused to pay and intended harm.
* The Prophet ﷺ was about to act upon this information.
* Then Allah revealed verse 6, commanding verification before action.
This incident established a **permanent Islamic principle**:
👉 Never act on unverified information.
