The Final Messenger: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ #khatamannabiyyin

Introduction

Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40) presents one of the most foundational principles of Islam: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. This verse closes the chapter of prophethood and affirms the finality of revelation. It highlights that the Prophet ﷺ was not a father to any man among the believers, ensuring that lineage or relationships cannot be misused to claim superiority.

This verse was revealed regarding the case of Zayd ibn Harithah (RA), who was once known as Zayd ibn Muhammad due to adoption. Allah revealed this verse to clarify:

The Prophet ﷺ is not the father of any man among you.

He is Allah’s Messenger.

He is Khatam an-Nabiyyin, the Seal (Final) of all Prophets.

This revelation closed the door of prophethood forever after Muhammad ﷺ.
